The locality of Patleyna is 3km away and it offers good conditions for rest and recreation.
The Veliki Preslav treasure - gold and gilded decorations dated back to the 10th century has been discovered near the town. The remnants of the medieval capital city of Veliki Preslav are located southwards, comprising a park complex. Patleyna Monastery is located in the Patleyna area, where Tsar Boris after his descending from the throne spent the last days of his life. The monastery has been one of the manufacturing centers of Preslav ceramic arts. The unique ceramic icon of Saint Theodore Stratelates has been discovered there.

The Veliki Preslav National History and Archeological Reserve
It is established on the ruins of the old Bulgarian capital. In 893 Tsar Simeon moved the capital city from Pliska to Veliki Preslav. The famous Preslavian painted ceramics were being produced. Veliki Preslav has been the capital city until 972. The Ottoman Turks destroyed the town in 1388.
